(An off-campus centre of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Belur)

Swami Vivekananda wanted “man-making” education to go hand in hand with socio-economic development. He saw in it the real uplift and emancipation of India. Since agriculture is the heart of Indian society basing which a faster development is possible, there was, presumably, a different kind of university in his mind.

Accordingly, The Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University is a sincere attempt to make his cherished idea efficacious. It was established on the 4th of July 2005. It is recognized by the Govt. of India under Section 3 of University Grant Commission (UGC) Act 1956. It essentially functions through some branches of Ramakrishna Mission from its headquarters at Belur, Howrah, West Bengal.

It provides opportunities for education and research in the disciplines of Arts, Science and Spiritual Studies. Humanities and Social Sciences that are available in its faculty of Arts, and its faculty of Science, on the other hand, offers Fundamental as well as Basic Sciences of all categories together with the learning in Technology and Engineering.

The Integrated Rural Development and Management (IRDM) Faculty Centre at Narendrapur specially offers the following:

Ongoing Courses –

• Two year MSc/M.A (four semesters) in Integrated Rural Development and Management (IRDM)

• Two year MSc (four semesters) in Agricultural Biotechnology (AgBT)

• One year Post-Graduate Diploma (two semesters) in Sports Science (PGDSS)

• PhD in Integrated Rural Development and Management

• PhD in Agricultural Biotechnology

The trend found in this Faculty of the University is quite encouraging. There is a rush among the modern boys and girls for doing Post Graduation and Research, indicating its wide and deep appreciation.
