Lokasiksha Parishad
This unit of the Ashrama is assiduously working for the uplift of the rural masses as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda. It is earnestly engaged in the socio-economic developments of the poor and backward through numerous well organized projects and programmes. In order to make it best effective in rural areas, as mentioned earlier, with the help of a 3-tier system of implementation it forms and employs various agencies at different village levels. Hence, several Cluster Groups, Gram Unnayan Kendras, Youth Organizations and such others are there as its arms. Its activities are ramified as below:
The needy of our society enthusiastically participates in each of the abovementioned programmes of Lokasiksha Parishad, fulfilling an essential task of rural development for rebuilding India. Operating through dedicated non-government Community Based Organizations (CBOs), it now serves as many as 12 districts of West Bengal, such as South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Hoogly, Nadia, Murshidabad, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Bardhaman, Birbhum, Bankura, Purulia and Jalpaiguri. Besides, it has progrmmes in the slum localities and under-developed peripheries of the Metropolis of Kolkata too. TORC, known as the Empanelled Training Institute (ETI), a unit of the Ashrama has been catering the training needs, counseling and support services to the NSS (National Service Scheme) Programme Officers of Eastern and North Eastern States since its inception in 1986.
