Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa

This programme was originally carried out as part of the celebrations of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th Birth Anniversary during the period between 2010 and 2014. In view of its success, Belur Math had decided to continue it beyond its stipulated period of execution at a somewhat smaller scale. Accordingly, the Math funded the programme till March 2016, i.e. until the last financial year ended. Now the programme is being implemented at two nearby centres, namely Ukhila,P.O. Narendrapur and Shalpukur, P.O. Nepalgunge, involving 51 and 50 children respectively under TCSF fund. Tutorial classes are being conducted regularly for

These children. Besides, medical and health check-up camps, yoga and physical exercise classes, moral and value education sessions, music and song classes, community awareness camps, environmental education including personal and community hygiene, mothers’ camps, Value oriented films etc are also being systematically organised in these two places. Children are given nutritious items in tiffin as well as in lunch everyday, other than the Sunday. They are also provided with full school uniforms, slippers, study materials, toiletries (soap, tooth paste and brush, detergent), winter garments, raincoats, umbrellas and new clothes during festive seasons. People, cutting across castes and communities, from these localities participate in the weekly “Pathachakra”. They observe various national, social, cultural and religious events harmoniously with a sense of bonhomie and joy as well. Presently this project has been shifted to a permanent place at old Vijnanananda Bhavana.
