This unit of the Ashrama is assiduously working for the uplift of the rural masses as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda. It is earnestly engaged in the socio-economic developments of the poor and backward through numerous well organized projects and programmes. In order to make it best effective in rural areas, as mentioned earlier, with the help of a 3-tier system of implementation it forms and employs various agencies at different village levels. Hence, several Cluster Groups, Gram Unnayan Kendras, Youth Organizations and such others are there as its arms. Its activities are ramified as below:

The needy of our society enthusiastically participates in each of the abovementioned programmes of Lokasiksha Parishad, fulfilling an essential task of rural development for rebuilding India. Operating through dedicated non-government Community Based Organizations (CBOs), it now serves as many as 12 districts of West Bengal, such as South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Hoogly, Nadia, Murshidabad, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Bardhaman, Birbhum, Bankura, Purulia and Jalpaiguri. Besides, it has progrmmes in the slum localities and under-developed peripheries of the Metropolis of Kolkata too. It primarily functions to intimately motivate the youths in these areas, so that they could conveniently cultivate leadership qualities in them. In other words, the fundamental purpose of Lokasiksha Parishad is to assist rural and urban backward population how to utilize indigenous resources to the maximum, and subsequently, thereby, also how to carry out appropriate developmental process with a view to growing self-reliant.

TORC, known as the Empanelled Training Institute (ETI), a unit of the Ashrama has been catering the training needs, counseling and support services to the NSS (National Service Scheme) Programme Officers of Eastern and North Eastern States since its inception in 1986.

The objective of NSS is to develop character and personality of students in schools and colleges. There is a NSS Programme Officer to look after NSS in an institution. ETI, RKM,

JSS is a non-residential vocational training unit of LSP, sponsored by Govt. of India. It is being financed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Deptt. of School Education and Literacy. Aiming at the uplift of the target group population ( comprising illiterate, neo literate and semi literate people of all age group) it lays emphasis on human resource development through conducting vocational training courses both in the urban and rural milieu of 24 Pags (s) and southern part of Kolkata metropolis. Along with vocational training entrepreneurial input and guidance are also given to the target group to identify the need of such training and its proper utilization. JSS always considers the educational level and area of interest of the learners.
